WRITING
In order to understand my style of writing, i need to preface it — I
was most comfortable writing in screenplay format. I'd been writing
that way since I was 16/17 years old and the screenplay I wrote that got me
graduated from high school went on through cinema industry friends of
mine to Morgan Creek Films. Since they "passed" cos they
felt my characters were a little too "card board", I won't bother to link them
here. They didn't know I was a "kid" when I wrote it AND had it copy written.
I didn't renew the copyright when Empire Down turned 20 so it became fair game to whoever was looking for material to swipe. I find it interesting that I see a few scenes here and there in real life or tv and film. I believe that to be there's a lot of people seeing and thinking the same way... and that I foresaw some things being as diabolical as I had written way back when... and again, now, in 2023.
So now... It's been a long and intermittent life of writing. Since I'm still hardwired to write in screenplay format, it's going to get REALLY interesting to shed that cocoon so to speak.
I'll be writing in layers. I start with what I see as in a movie. Just the action. Then I go back to flesh it out. Rewrites are a pain in the ass but there is a lot learned there. In retrospect.
You never know what words you'll write that you figure out you're meant to read and heed those words. Your higher self is trying to speak to you but if you're too inept to comprehend it... good thing your mom thinks you're cute. Always remember Gary Larson's words from a cartoon he drew: "First your pants then your shoes".
